Biography
One of the UK’s leading young chamber duos KairosDuo, is a dynamic small ensemble for percussion and saxophone showcasing their vivacious performance style and artistry through modern classical and contemporary repertoire, as they strive to reimagine the traditional chamber music concert experience. The Duo’s vision is to reshape the future of chamber music through their innovative performances featuring new music and reimagined classics of a vast variety of styles and genres. KairosDuo formed in 2019 after meeting at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Tom (percussion) and Carys (saxophone) both graduated from the RNCM in 2024 with MMus Distinctions, and have since enjoyed busy careers as professional freelance musicians and solo artists. New music is vital to the essence of KairosDuo, who have commissioned and premiered several new works alongside exploring the world of electro-acoustic improvisation and performance. As a duo, they have recorded new works for the ensemble at the famous Abbey Road Studios, given world and UK premiere performances of works by Jenni Watson, Jos Cole, Greg Simon and Steve Danyew, as well as re-arranging much-loved repertoire for the unique and rare instrument combination. They have performed at reputable UK music venues including the International Anthony Burgess Foundation and the Buxton Opera House.
